WHO:
Ian is a multimedia designer living in Washington DC. He has an affinity for vector graphics. One of his favorite things is valid code. He enjoys finding the font Papyrus used on products and signs and yelling, “Bad!” to family and friends who only find it confusing. He is obsessed with memorizing keyboard shortcuts along with hexadecimal and Pantone color values.

EXPERIENCE:
Ripe - Washington DC (February 2007 - Present)
Senior Designer. Ripe is a small, boutique studio in Washington DC. As Senior Designer I am responsible for designing, coding, publishing and maintaining websites for both local businesses and national organizations. Additionally, I meet with clients and help to produce a wide variety of print materials including identity packages, magazine ads, etc.

Polaris Project - Washington DC (September 2005 - October 2006)
Graphic Artist. I started as a Design Fellow at the Polaris Project, a nonprofit organization that combats human trafficking. In January, 2006, I was hired as the organization’s Graphic Artist. I was responsible for nearly all design related tasks for the organization, including the creation of websites, logos, videos and print materials.

National Mental Health Association - Washington DC (September 2004 - May 2005)
Intern at the National Mental Health Association, Public Education Dept. I worked mostly on their website, mpoweryouth.org. I created their monthly newsletter and wrote the majority of the articles contained therein.

Freelance Designer - (August 2001 - February 2007)

SKILLS:
Design and Graphics: I am experienced in the use of all the programs listed to the left and their application to web design, print design, illustration, photo editing and animation. For some example pieces, please visit the various pages linked above.

Traditional Art:I have well developed skills in drawing with both traditional mediums such as pencil or charcoal as well as on the computer. Additionally, I am an experienced photographer and multimedia artist.

Other:I am conversationally fluent in Spanish and have well developed writing skills.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
American University - Studio Art: Multimedia
I am currently enrolled at American University in their Studio Art: Multimedia program where I have a 3.82 GPA and am a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. The program provides training not only in traditional art mediums, but also in multimedia design. I will graduate in May of 2008.

The George Washington University - Psychology.
In May of 2006, I graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Psychology. My minors were Spanish and Creative Writing.
